History

SCHIMA MAYER STARLINGER Attorneys-at-Law (www.sms.law) was founded in November 2018 as a merger of two law firms, each well-established in their respective fields. The team of Starlinger Mayer Attorneys-at-Law around Christian Mayer and Thomas Starlinger is known above all for their know-how in antitrust and competition law as well as in energy law. The team further consists of Moritz Am Ende, an expert on all aspects of Austrian and EU competition law, State aid law as well as EU and EEA law and Stephan Schmalzl, well known for his expertise in banking and finance support, corporate governance, M&A, dispute resolution and litigation, as well as public law. Markus Dax heads the real estate law team. The focus of his work is legal support and support of developers in project development, structuring, acquisition and development of real estate as well as recovery. Other focal points are in the field of real estate, tenancy and construction law and building contract law, extrajudicial and judicial advice and representation of construction companies, counselling, representation and support of debtors in debt settlement procedures, advice and support in connection with the obtaining of residence permits and settlement permits in Austria, company and corporate law.

With Georg Schima and Birgit Vogt-Majarek, prior belonging to the former law firm Kunz Schima Wallentin, the four founding partners are complete. Georg Schima heads the team for corporate law, corporate governance, litigation and arbitration. His expertise is renowned especially in corporate governance issues of joint stock companies, in the banking sector, as well as private foundation law.

The highly reputed advisory service in complex matters of corporate law and foundation law, in corporate governance as well as executive and supervisory board issues will also be continued and expanded after the merger. Together, the experience and competences will be bundled and strengthened as well as expanded in the long term.
